Etsy fees 2026, explained

Updated October 2026

What Etsy charges per sale in 2026, using US numbers, plus what changes if your shop is based in another country.

Etsy’s seller fees at a glance

Etsy AdsYour daily budgetOptional on-site ads

US shops pay no regulatory operating fee and no tax on Etsy’s fees. A typical US order without Offsite Ads loses about 10–11% to fees, more on cheap items.

Worked example: $30 mug with $5.99 shipping

US seller, no Offsite Ads, $14 total item, shipping and packaging costs
Order total (item + shipping)$35.99
Listing fee ($0.20, converted)$0.20
Transaction fee 6.5%$2.34
Payment processing$1.33
Total Etsy fees$3.87 (10.8%)
Profit after costs of $14.00$18.12

The fixed parts (20 cents plus 25 cents) cost 1.25% on this order but 9% on a $5 item. Higher prices or bundles reduce that drag.

Sales tax and processing fees

Etsy collects and remits sales tax on US orders as a marketplace facilitator, so you don’t keep it and it is not part of your sales figure. Payment processing is still charged on the total the buyer pays, including that tax. On a $35.99 order with 8% sales tax, about 9 cents of extra processing fee comes from the tax. Enter the tax in the calculator’s “More options” for an exact figure.

The same order with Offsite Ads

Same order attributed to an Offsite Ad at 15%
Order total (item + shipping)$35.99
Listing fee ($0.20, converted)$0.20
Transaction fee 6.5%$2.34
Payment processing$1.33
Offsite Ads 15%$5.40
Total Etsy fees$9.27 (25.8%)
Profit after costs of $14.00$12.72

An Offsite Ads sale more than doubles the fees here. Shops under $10,000 a year can opt out. Above that the 12% rate is compulsory. See Offsite Ads explained.

If your shop is outside the US

Payment processing depends on your bank country: for example 4% + £0.20 (UK), 4% + €0.30 (most of the EU), and 3% + C$0.25 or A$0.25 for domestic orders in Canada and Australia (4% for international buyers). Some countries add a regulatory operating fee (UK 0.48%, France 1.14%, Italy 0.80%, Spain 0.88%, Canada 0.50% since 22 June 2026), and sellers in the UK, EU, Canada and Australia pay VAT or GST on Etsy’s fees. Keeping records for taxes

Etsy fees are deductible business expenses in most countries. In the US they usually go under commissions and fees on Schedule C. Etsy issues Form 1099-K once you pass the IRS reporting threshold, and its gross figure can include shipping and sales tax, so keep your own records to reconcile it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take per sale in 2026?

For a US shop: 6.5% transaction fee + 3% + $0.25 processing + $0.20 listing fee. On a $30 item with $5.99 shipping that is about $3.87, or 11% of the order. Offsite Ads add 12–15% when a sale comes from an Etsy ad.

Does Etsy take fees from shipping?

Yes. The transaction fee, payment processing and Offsite Ads fees are all charged on shipping as well as the item price.

Did Etsy raise fees in 2026?

For US shops the core fees are unchanged. On 22 June 2026 Etsy raised regulatory operating fees in the UK, France, Italy and Spain, added one in Hungary, and lowered them in India and Türkiye.

Is the listing fee charged again when an item sells?

Yes. Each sale renews the listing (and each extra unit sold from a multi-quantity listing) for another $0.20.
